Oh, Jonathan, how I have missed you...


As you may remember, I was feeling pretty lousy on Wednesday and bagged my Pilates class. (Sorry, Kim.) Today was my other cross-training day, and I had a big decision to make: should I hang out with Michelle, the perky Pilates video instructor, or go back to my first cross-training love, Jonathan?

Jonathan's No Excuses strength training workout is exercise comfort food for me at this point. (Mmm, No Excuses mac and cheese. Delish!) I've done the video at least 50 times, and I can recite pretty much everything he says throughout. Michelle and I are still getting used to each other, while Jonathan and I are a well-oiled machine.

You can imagine who won. Yup, my exercise boyfriend and I had a little rendezvous this afternoon, but Michelle kept butting in unexpectedly. I'd be doing my crunches and suddenly hear her voice saying, "Control your powerhouse!" Or I'd be doing leg lifts and hear her admonishing, "Pull your navel in toward your spine!" and "Keep your torso as still as possible!"
And you know what? Jonathan's workout felt easier than it used to. I haven't done it for a while, so the training effect must be coming from...Michelle!

I've already penciled Michelle in for next Friday. Sorry, Jonathan.
