Looking back, looking ahead W2/W1

Egads, it's here! This is it--the very last week before the race! Now we are officially in full taper mode, so there's very little to do this week. We are supposed to be drinking lots of water and making sure we get plenty of sodium and sleeping as much as we can. I'm not doing so well on the sleeping part, so I'm going to have to make this a quick post tonight and go back to my mile dedication posts tomorrow.

Look what I picked up at the LLS office today--my race jersey!! EEEEEEEEEEE!!! I tried it on to make sure it fit, and the fabric is very silky and breathes well. I am so glad I got the shirt instead of the singlet, which is more like a hoochie shirt for people running marathons in Miami. You'll get to see pictures of me wearing it with "full regalia" a day or two before the race when I try everything on, so just consider this a preview.

Something truly wonderful happened today. My friend Amanda (to whom Mile 2 is dedicated) made a donation to "round off" my fundraising total--and not just the tens or the hundreds digit, either! She rounded me up to $4,000! That's four thousand dollars to fund a research study, to pay for prescriptions for people who otherwise could not afford them, to provide counseling to patients and families struggling with a new diagnosis... Amanda, I can't thank you enough. You ROCK!

As you know, I haven't done much running because of my injury, but for the record...*grumble grumble*

What was I supposed to do in Week 2? Did I do it?
  • Tuesday: 4 miles YES!
  • Wednesday: CROSS-TRAIN YES!
  • Thursday: 6 miles NOPE
  • Friday: CROSS-TRAIN NOPE
  • Saturday: 8 miles NOPE (waaaaaahhhh!)
  • Sunday: 3 miles KINDA (did about half if you count the swimming)
So, uh, I ran...we'll call it 5 miles. And did one Pilates class. And injured myself ten days before the race. Sigh. I clearly jinxed myself when I said the schedule looked very doable!

What am I supposed to do this week?
  • Tuesday: 2 miles
  • Wednesday: CROSS-TRAIN
  • Thursday: 2 miles
  • Friday: CROSS-TRAIN or REST (haven't quite decided yet)
  • Saturday: 1 mile
  • Sunday: THE BIG DAY, THE ONE I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR...13.1 MILES, BABY!!!
See? Five miles this week. That's what I ran last week. It's like I started my taper a little early, that's all!

I AM READY TO ROCK THIS THING! REARRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!
